Car Parking prices
- Short stay car parks - £0.80p/hour - The exception being Abbott's
Yard where a premium pricing regime of £1 for the first hour and
£1.50 for each subsequent hour applies
- Long stay car parks - £2.50 all day (with the exception of Park
Lane car park which is from the 01/04/05 £3.00 a day). *Caution
some 'long stay car parks' become 'short stay car parks' at the weekend.
Motor Cycle Parking
Motor cycles park free when attached to a secure parking stand in the
following car parks:
- Abbott's Yard
- Commercial Street
- Beaumont Street
- Garden Street
- Barnard Street
Motor cycles parked elsewhere within a car park must pay the appropriate
fee.
Commercial Vehicles and Buses
Are restricted by height barriers from using both short and long stay
car parks. Commercial vehicle and bus parking is available, for a charge,
at Chesnut Street.

Shopmobility
Situated next to the Dolphin Centre entrance.
Powered and unpowered wheelchairs and escorts are available to help disabled
shoppers.
Open Monday to Saturday 10.00 am – 5.00 pm (Wednesday 4.00 pm).

Parking for Shopmobility is available under the Town Hall Council Chamber
(Free for as long as you need it!)

Free Parking
Is available after 6.00 pm and all day Sunday at all Council short stay
and long stay car parks.
Closed Circuit Television
Most Council and Railway Station pay and display car parks are
monitored by CCTV. A proportion of the car park fee contributes towards
the provision of this service.
Car Crime Prevention
DON'T FORGET … Park in the light – shut windows –
remove valuables – lock doors – set immobiliser or alarm.
