Expressing your preference of school

The letter you receive from the Authority will provide space for you to state your preferred school and indicate any information you wish to be considered in support of your application.

In listing your three preferences you need to be aware that priority will be given to those parents who express a first preference for a particular school. While this does not guarantee that you will gain a place for your child at your first preference school, it does mean that the possibility of gaining a place at your second or third preference school is reduced.

For example, if you decide to use your first preference on a distant school but fail to gain a place for your child, this might result in you not securing a place at your second preference school even if it is very near to your home. Preferences registered with the Authority cannot normally be changed until the initial offer of places is completed.
