Are YOU Citizen Smith?
As well providing a community facility and bringing together lots
of important news items and snippets within the town and providing
ideas as to what to do, where to go or even who can fix your washing
machine or build an extension - Darlingtontown.co.uk also exists
to help us all by being better informed, allowing us to make more
of a difference within our town and local Collective Communities
- but we need YOUR help and the help of active citizens throughout
the town.
In the hit 80's sitcom TV series Citizen Smith - Wolfie Smith
lived in Tooting, South London and was the founding member of
The 'Tooting Popular Front' - the TPF. - Wolfie believed in the
equal participation of all citizens, and that each and every one
of us is responsible for the environments we live within. That
things don't just get better by sitting around and moaning but
by looking at ways of achieving all of the little, or even the
bigger things that can make a real difference to us all.
Unlike Wolfie's TPF who did absolutely nothing
We plan to show you real case studies and success stories from
around the town. We aim to share with you just who can help you
get your ideas off the ground and want to show you just what you
can achieve and how to go about it yourself. By interviewing and
hearing from the very people who are accountable to us for a range
of services ranging from leisure facilities and many of the aspects
of our town we all seem to take for granted, we aim to help others
by being better informed, less ignorant and help them gain ideas
for what they want to go on to do themselves.
People such as Ward Councillors, School Governors, School Council
and Community Representatives, Community Wardens and those who
give their time and expertise up voluntarily are invaluable to
us and we'll ask them about their experiences, background and
how did they get involved. What do they get out of doing their
job or providing the services they do. We wish to share what they
find about their job that’s rewarding, what frustrates them,
who could make it easier and who would they like to work closer
with in and around the town.
As Citizen Smith we are calling YOU, If you have a story to tell
or experience to share with others then remember, this is YOUR
town so get in touch. Alternatively, if there is something of
particular interest that you would like to see here we'd like
to hear from you...
