  • There should now be a news account called "***the newsgroup***" in the "Account" column.
  • Click on the account name and then select "Properties".

  • Click the "Connection" tab at the top of the "***the newsgroup***" "Properties" window.
  • Check to see that you have a check next to "Always Connect To This Account Using".
  • Below that line check to see that the account to be used is shown in the drop-down menu. If it isn't then you can select it from the drop-down menu.
  • Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the page.

  • Outlook Express should then ask you to download a list of Newsgroups. This download can take some time because there may well be over 55,000+ Newsgroups available to you! Click the "Yes" button to start the download.

  • Outlook Express will connect to the Net and start the download.

  • Once the download is done you'll see the "Newsgroup Subscriptions" page. Use this page to subscribe to Newsgroups. You need to subscribe to a Newsgroup to read the postings in that group.

  • Select the groups that you want from the list. You can select multiple groups by holding down the "CTRL" key at the bottom of your keyboard while you select them. You don't have to select all the groups you want from the list in one sitting. You can open this window anytime from Outlook Express by clicking the "Tools" menu and selecting "Newsgroups". Once you have selected some Newsgroups click the "Subscribe" button at the top right of the Window.
  • Click the "OK" button to close this Window.

  • You should then see a news server called "***the newsgroup***" in the "Folders" panel in Outlook Express. Any Newsgroups you've subscribed to will show up below the "***the newsgroup***" line in the "Folders" panel. You can select them and read the content from there.

All done! Outlook Express is all set up for that Newsgroup... So, how about another?
