| The Pupil Support Service comprises a number of services, including the Education Welfare Service, Behaviour Support Service, Traveller Education and Education Other than at School with the Home and Hospital Service. There is also an Inclusion Advisory Teacher who works with schools, pupils and their parents to discuss issues about Exclusions and reintegration. The overall aim of the Pupil Support Service is to support schools, pupils and their parents in accessing and maintaining education provision. The Education Welfare Service aims to help schools and parents ensure
that children and young people benefit from their entitlement to full
educational opportunities. All schools are visited regularly by an Education
Welfare Officer, who works with a range of agencies to encourage young
people to develop good patterns of attendance. Part of the role of the
EWS is to support the welfare of Traveller children and their families.
The services of the EWS are available to any parent or pupil who may want
to discuss any matter connected with a child's education or general welfare.
This is the broad name for all types of educational provision the Service
oversees for young people who may have been excluded from school, or for
whom traditional mainstream education is no longer appropriate. This also
includes sick children and children in hospital and children and young
people who placed at the Alternative Centre for Education.
